If you would like to listen to some good Scottish (and indeed other) music while surfing the Web, why not have a look and listen to Scottish Internet Radio - they're actually based in Dingwall, so are practically our local radio station! You can also listen live to Moray Firth Radio, based in Inverness.

Pump Room
The Upper Pump Room (just next to the Pavilion) was again open last season, so that everyone could "take the waters", as well as seeing a fascinating display of Strathpeffer's history as a spa. Well done and thanks to Steve and Clancy Macdonald for continuing to run the Pump Room, incorporating the Tourist Information Centre (TIC). The Pump Room is now closed for the winter but we have been told it will probably be open again from May. Tel: 01997 421415
Highland Museum of Childhood
The delightful Highland Museum of Childhood at the Old Station, Strathpeffer is open from April to October and can be opened for groups at other times by arrangement. This year, it is also open from 11am to 4pm on Saturdays until 15 December. Telephone 01997 421031
Don't forget to visit the adjoining Victorian Station Coffee Shop too.
Cast le Leod Open Days 2008
Castle Leod, Strathpeffer, is a 16th century castle, set amongst some of the finest trees in Scotland. It is also the family home of the Earl and Countess of Cromartie. Castle Leod is open to the public from 2pm to 6pm on certain days of the year. This year's open days are as follows:
- Sep: Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th
Prices: Adult £6, Concession £5, Child £3. Tickets on sale from 2pm to 4.45pm, Castle open till 6pm. Private tours are also available - please ring the Estate Office on 01997 421264 or 422026 and leave a contact number to book your tour - or e-mail.
Strathpeffer and District Pipe Band
From 8.30 every Saturday this year starting on 10 May until September, the Band and local Highland dancers perform in Strathpeffer Square. This is always popular with visitors and local residents alike. Many thanks to local photographer John Smith for this photo of the band, taken in front of the Pavilion in 2005. John has just launched a new website of local photographs - click on his name to take a look.
Strathpeffer Highland Gathering 9 August 2008
This popular annual event, known locally as "The Strath Games", takes place in the grounds of Castle Leod, Strathpeffer, the home of the Earl and Countess of Cromartie. Events: Solo Piping, Highland Dancing, Running, Field Events, Heavy Events, Tug o' War, Cycling, Piping Competitions, 3 Pipe Bands.
After the Games, there will again be a dance in the Pavilion, this time with popular local band Ezra.

Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club
The historic Strathpeffer Golf Club is worth a visit for its glorious views, even if you don't play golf! It also boasts the longest drop from tee to green of any course in Scotland. The Golf Club held a special tournament in aid of the Pavilion in August 2006. Our thanks to them, to Mackays of Dingwall, who were the main sponsors of the event, and to everyone who took part.
Bicycle Hire
There are many lovely walks around Strathpeffer but, if you prefer to take your exercise on two wheels, you can hire a bicycle from Square Wheels, the cycle shop in the Square (hence the name). Square Wheels also sells and repairs bikes. Tel: 01997 421000
Strathpeffer Community Centre

Strathpeffer Community Centre is located next to the Primary School, just up the hill from the Pavilion. The community centre is open 9.00 till 9.00 weekdays and till 5.00 on Saturdays. The centre provides space for local community groups and activities. It is also a branded Learning Centre and so can cater for any learning needs. This local company, which makes a variety of very special soaps and bath products, now has its own website and on-line shop - click here to visit it.
Strathpeffer Victorian Market Day, 14 June 2008
This is an annual happening, arranged by the Victorian Strathpeffer Committee, who work hard all year to arrange a series of interesting and entertaining events, culminating in Strathpeffer's famous Victorian Market Day.

Strathpeffer Churches
Mobile Library
One of Highland Libraries' mobile units now visits Strathpeffer every third Wednesday. You would be surprised at the range of both fiction and non-fiction it carries; the stock is constantly changing; you can borrow as many books as you like; and the librarian is happy to order books that are not in stock. The Mobile Library arrives at Jamestown at 12 noon, then stops at Ord Terrace and Park Road West and finally in the Square from 2.30 pm to 3.45 pm.
