You Can Help

Fund raisers

Former Chairman George Tait with some of our most successful fund raisers:  Alison Hoffmann, Caroline Rham (now a member of the SPA Board), the Countess of Cromartie (one of our Patrons) and James Evans (former member of the Sterling Showband).

You can help in many different ways, for example:

  • Make a donation towards the fund to finish equipping the Pavilion - we have made tremendous progress but there is still much to be done - or

  • Arrange a fund-raising event, such as a coffee morning or baking stall (it doesn't have to be in the Pavilion).

  • Attend events in the Pavilion - and bring your friends!   Because our programme is still being developed and being added to all the time, we are not yet in a position to do regular postal mailing about events but you can ask for your name to be added when we start one, and meantime you could ask to be added to our e-mail list.

  • Think about hiring the Pavilion for any special celebration - and encourage your family and friends to do so.  An ever-increasing number of people have attended weddings and other functions in the Pavilion and found it the perfect venue.

  • Become a "Friend of the Pavilion" (and encourage others to join).

  • If you prefer not to be a "Friend", you can still volunteer to help with events (e.g. setting up the hall, helping to lay tables for special functions, box office or stewarding).

  • Display or help with distribution of posters or flyers for events - we do this monthly and are very grateful to those who help us publicise our events in this way.

  • Help us maintain our flowerbeds and growing number of pot plants.

Just get in touch with the Pavilion office or with Lorna Holland (01997 421462), who is kindly co-ordinating the work of the many volunteers who support the Pavilion, and without whom it would have been impossible to achieve all we have accomplished to date.

Donations and funds raised by the Friends of the Pavilion have already helped to improve lighting outside the Pavilion, instal a gas tank (we were previously dependent on bottled gas!) and to put handrails on the front steps.  Most recently, they have enabled us to make huge improvements to the sound and lighting systems and curtains in the main hall.
